I love to write and perform songs and this video is one of those songs of mine I recently recorded. I chose this video also because I edited the video as well as the mixing and mastering for the track.
I am also very interested in experimenting with contact mics. I like to do sound for film and sound design, so these types of mics may lead to very cool ends as well as cool musical possibilities.
I love that session, you sound great! The mix is pretty sweet too, I really like the sound you got with the electric guitar, it sounds super clean and present.
Contact mics have been an interest of mine for a bit too, this video does a really good job of demonstrating how they work and how to set them up. I'm interested to see if you end up doing anything with them!
This is a great mix! Your performance seems natural and comfortable and the color scheme/lighting within the video helped communicate that comfort also.
I enjoyed the lengthy intro to different types and uses of contact mics. I'm also interested in film sound and I could tell from this video, especially the part with the home-made spring/steel instrument, that these mics could be useful for sound design.
Man that was a really well written song, and the arrangement worked really well with the musicians as well. The mix was also super clean, as I was able to hear all of the elements of the arrangement clearly, but none of them overpowered or interfered with the vocal. Good stuff.
The second video I found really interesting. Not knowing too much about contact mics, the possibilities that they bring up were very intriguing to me. Being very relevant to sound design, it's something that is useful and that I would want to experiment with!
Contact mics can do incredible stuff. I saw a piece done once with improv on a solo snare drum with a contact mic on it, that was then sent at different delay speeds to three other snare drums acting like resonators. Insane stuff. "And I couldn't take you for granted if I tried" <3 Beautiful. Really nice song.

This is a groovy tune, I really like it.
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about contact mics, but this video is really informative and I would love to experiment with them.

The mix is great! The electric guitar sound is especially good, very clean and crisp.
