This is my first video. Originally scored for only Typewriter, Melissa and I modernized the work by adding iPad. Hope you enjoy!

This is my second video. I really like the idea of incorporating electronics with video and live percussion performance. The more theatrical, the better.

Thanks for watching!

  1. Wow, the video element in the last one is very powerful. I love the use of unconventional instrumentation in the first one. Both those fill me up with loads of ideas for collaboration. These really opened my ears.

  2. The Typewriter was so fun to watch and so well done! I like the mix between the classical and very modern, a mix I like to explore while dancing as well. The second video made me feel uneasy, but I wasn't uncomfortable. I think it was the visuals that added to the uneasiness.

  3. The beginning of the second video reminds me of the film August Rush with the open guitar and harmonics, and the aesthetic of the piece as a whole is enamoring. Like, I need to move on but just can't hit pause. I am super into the idea of found timbres like the wooden keyboard instrument. In combination with electronics, it is amazing what sorts of tones you can achieve. Also, liked your adaptation of the first piece to iPad- I wonder what the composer would think if he saw your adaptation (or an iPad).

  4. I'm so glad to finally see that rendition of the Typewriter for real. I got to hear it from the back risers last year when y'all performed it at the combined concert but it's even cooler with the full theatrical effect. Awesome collaboration!

  5. I love your stage presence and performative affect in the Typewriter! Neat idea to modernize the piece by adding iPad. I think the video aspect of Memory Palace would be cool even as just a standalone film (with soundtrack), but mixing this with the live performance takes it to a new (and better) level.
