The first link (which actually cannot be embedded, apologies) is a solo excerpt from a ~20 minute performance I did last semester with composer Rachel Epperly and percussionist Griffin Harvey that was based on the life cycles of mushrooms. In this section I played guitar and projected a Jitter patch that interacted with the signal from my guitar.

I am struggling to find a specific topic that I am interested in pursuing but I think it would be cool to incorporate some elements of dance music/rock/minimalism/hip hop in a multimedia performance. One project that I think emulates some of these musical styles that I continually come back to (and is one of my favorite albums for traveling) is Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92.
That's a sweet patch you've got there, I'd be really interested to see how you mapped certain parameters between your guitar and your program!

I was at the show and the end of last semester and, man, if I didn't already say this to you right after that thing blew me away. The levels of density of thought, the complete embrace of multidisciplinary thought, the invigorated performances from every member. Yes. Y'all killed it.

I remmeber seeing this performance during the Olivia Block masterclass and I thought that it was one of the coolest things I've seen, as far as live performance goes, in the PAT department. I really love how you tied themes together and used a variety of sounds and ideas in this piece to really tie it all together.
ReplyDeleteAlso this album is a classic, I'm a huge fan of most of his early stuff. Would be really interested in messing around with some synth stuff and loops to emulate some of his music.
