Blog Week 1

This is a piece I made a while back utilizing a vocal synthesis software called Vocaloid.  I haven’t really found my own “style” yet in terms of genre, but it is safe to say that I am influenced by a lot of East Asian music and write both instrumental and vocal pieces.

I think Kikuo’s works are always super interesting sonically and are a great example of the type of
music I would want to make.  He creates some unique textures and forms by utilizing a lot of
uncommon combinations between various acoustic and electronic instruments.

  2. For Metaphysical Preferenes: The breakdown at 0:56 is crazy satisfying! Love the piano and drum riffs going on here, especially that small moment where the Vocaloid is harmonizing with the synthesizers. Great use of build and drop structure.

  3. Both very interesting but quite different. I appreciate the more up-tempo side of the first one. I like how bright and uplifting these pieces are. That being said I almost want to see a darker more mysterious side to this style of music.

  4. I enjoyed your piece, especially the instrumental sections, which felt very epic. Kikuo's piece is very interesting to the ear, something I can move to for sure. Great selections!

  5. Dang! I love the vox on your piece, definitely keep running with that plugin. For the second piece, I love how so many different styles are represented. The East Asian vox on Latin rhythms got me groovin.

  6. I loooove the buildup of the instrumental track after the vocal line. That sort of thing gets me every time. The section right before the end where the beat gets reduced to that more sparse texture with the vocals on top is great too.

  7. Awesome production on this! I think all of your ideas flowed together in a very satisfying way. And the Kikuo piece creates a really compelling sound world. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!
